The artifact that I decided to use is my Foundation Assessment Assignment from my SOCW 401 class. I used this artifact for Competency 7 because it had the purpose to work with clients and set intervention goals. In this paper we took a character from a documentary and assess their personal background, look at the supportive systems, and strengths and resources. This competency allows for social workers to assess that situation and factors of the client to see what interventions can be incorporated in the client's current situation. Competency 7 looks into developing mutually agreed on interventions goals for the client based on the notes and intake information. In the paper it takes step by step look at the clients personal factor so that an identified goal can be developed based on the client needs. Further on I identify that my client needs help with body positivity, self esteem, and as far as interventions with self harm. Based on the assessment portion I further saw the way that research and assessment on the client can help find what strategies are needed such as referral to psychiatrist, working with a program that deals with body positivity and self-esteem. The Foundation Assessment helped get an understanding of how assessments help social workers further create an intervention plan and goals with their client.
Competency #8
Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities

For this artifact I chose to use my service learning final project that consists of making a restorative practice staff guidebook for DREAAM House that will further be used to bring restorative practice in the class while serving teachers/ staff. This artifact is an example of an intervention for restorative justice because the staff guidebook consist of implementing strategies that will help the organization work on implementing with their staff. The reason I chose this artifact as my competency was because I had to further had to create something in order to work on getting needs to be met. As a social worker sometimes you will need to take initiatives to make sure that your organization is using strategies and resources to further implement their mission and goals. In the guidebook I collaborated with administrators and teachers from the Champaign and Urbana area to help in terms of how restorative practice can best be implemented as an intervention and what are some goals an organization should set or think about when implementing. Further on I also conducted research to add into this staff guidebook and from the research further concluded to using strength based approach interventions in the classroom with students from diverse backgrounds to better work towards creating a restorative like mindset and environment.
Competency #9

For Competency 9 I chose to look at my Map the Gap Challenge on the Cycle of Debt from my SOCW 321 because it allowed me to analyze and evaluate an issue and the steps taken to intervene and work to improve the intervention. In this project I worked to evaluate the way poverty and debt is seen in the world by doing research on how huge the problem is, Competency 9 allowed me to further work on evaluating programs or interventions that have been implemented to solve the issue of poverty and debt.
The project consisted of evaluating programs on a macro level by looking at the issue around the lack of financial literacy in education. The impact gap evaluates the challenges at the level of policy and government funding that play a role in poverty and debt. My project takes an approach of looking at a broader issue of financial literacy and how we can further improve practices if we can implement financial literacy to be something we learn. In the solution mapping section I look into different levels of social work such as policy and mezzo settings where financial literacy practices can be implemented to improve the big issue of financial illiteracy and further on social and economic issues like poverty and debt.
